Sometimes it is good to stop and smell the roses… When looking at Joe Paine’s work that is exactly what I call stopping to smell the roses. Honestly, this man’s work is just one of those reminders that South Africa has so much to offer. I’ve been following his work since I spotted his Kreep LITE planter that I also posted in this post about Dokter and Misses. Ever since I’ve been keeping a close eye on what he gets up to. This was about two years ago and I’m so excited to pop into his site every now and again only to find more pieces.
I’ve been pining over his Klara shelf since I saw it on Instagram looking all lovely. Now I’ve added more items to my décor must have list. What I love about his work is its functionality, oh no make that multi-functionality and how well thought out it is. There is so much detail and complexity in its simplicity. And did I mention it is beautiful? His work not only promises beauty though, it also signifies a different lifestyle. Living with less but making sure that what you have is exceptional quality. His planters encourage a healthier lifestyle where veggies and herbs can be grown right on your patio, balcony or against the wall and again functionality and purpose is considered.
Featured in this post is his Coco Coffee Table, Forrester Planter, Klara Shelf, Paperclip Chair, Picture Rail, Self Help Side Table, Talk Bench Complex, Tower Planter, his Tower Planter with Hoops, Wrap Writing Bureau and finally his Ziggurat Stand.
